I WILLIAM K WOOD of the county of Randolph in the state of North Carolina being of sound in perfect mind and memory book calling to the mind the Frailty and uncertainty of human life and knowing that it is appointed unto man once to die to make this my last will and testament in Manner and form following, viz. Item I give and bequeath unto my son JONES K WOOD one feather bed and furniture and one cow and calf besides what he has already had. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter ELIZA LASSITER fifty cents besides which she has already had. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter DEMARIS HATFIELD fifty cents besides what she has already had. Item I give and bequeath unto my son JOSIAH WOOD fifty cents besides what he has already had. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter AMELIA LOFLIN fifty cents besides what she has already had. I give and bequeath unto my daughter BELINDA SKEEN fifty cents besides what she has already had. Item I give and bequeath unto my son SPENCER WOOD all that part of my land lying east of what is called the Lassiter Road and down the cape fear road to a large Branch; thence down the various courses of the branch to the fork; thence a south course to the corner of what is called the Bundy tract; thence to the Lassiter Road containing 100 acres be the same more or less. Also one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one mare, saddle and bridle which he has and now claims. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter MARTHA THOMPSON fifty cents besides what she has already had. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter ELIZABETH WOOD one feather bed and Furniture, one cow and calf and other things to make her equal with her elder sisters. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter NANCY WOOD one feather bed and Furniture, one cow and calf and other things to make her equal with the rest of her sisters. Wood 1842 Item I give and bequeath unto my younger son WILLIAM ASBERRY WOOD all the remaining part of my land though not to deprive his mother of the use of it during her lifetime or widowhood. Also I give to him one feather bed and Furniture, one cow and calf, one horse bridle and saddle worth seventy five dollars to be raised out of the property that can best spared to have the horse when he arrives at the age of 21 years, if needed. Item I give and bequeath to my beloved wife RACHEL WOOD my two negro women TISHA and CINTHE together with all the rest of my state both real and personal not heretofore named for the support of her and her family during her lifetime or widowhood. My will is that my property remain as it now is unless it becomes necessary to raise money to school the younger children or for the support of the family and then my desire is that my executor as hereafter named shall sell at private sale such part of the stock or property that can be best spared for the above named purposes. And after the death or marriage of my wife RACHEL WOOD my will is that all the residue of my property not heretofore mentioned be sold and equally divided amongst all my children. Also my will and desire is that my two negro women be kept in the family in some way as my executor may think best.
