Will, DE, Kent Hester Shepard 1786 In the name of God Amen. This 8th day of May in the year of Our Lord 1786, I, [EASTER] HESTER SHEPARD, of the Delaware State, Kent County, Mispillion hundred, being sick and weak of body but sound, disposing mind, memory thanks be to God for the same do make & ordain this my last will and testament in Manner and form following. IMPRIMIS: My will and desire first is that my funeral charges and just debts be first paid. SECONDLY: ITEM I give and bequeath to my two daughters BETSY [SHEPARD SHEPERD] and RICHEY [SHEPARD] SHEPERD £20 each. My will and desire is that the whole of my estate be brought to appraisement and after all just debts are paid, my will then is that my two daughters shall have my whole estate. And if either of them should die under age or without lawful issue, my will is that her part shall descend to the surviving one. And lastly I do constitute, appoint my loving brother JONATHAN ROWLAND my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament, and I do, by these presents, revoke, make null & void all other will or wills by me made or in any wise caused to be made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. I give my mother shall have the care of my two daughters, children, during her natural life. That at the time of her so doing and saying she was of sound disposing mind, memory and understanding that at her instance and request and in her presence he signed his name as a witness thereto and at the same time at the like instance and request saw ISAAC MINCHALL and JACOB CALLAWAY sign their names as two other witnesses to the same.
