DAVIS WHEREAS GEORGE DAVIS late of York District, deceased, lately died intestate, having whilst he lived, and at the time of his death, divers goods, rights and credits within the State aforesaid; by means whereof the full disposition and power of granting the administration of all and singular the goods, rights and credits of the said deceased, and also auditing the accounts, calculations, and reckonings of the said administration; and a final dismission of the same, to me is manifestly known to belong. I desiring that the goods, rights, and credits of the said deceased may be well and truly administered, converted and disposed of, do hereby grant unto JOSHUA E. DAVIS in whose fidelity in this behalf I very much confide, full power, by the tenor of these presents, to administer the goods, rights and credits of the said deceased, which to him in his lifetime, and at the time of his death did belong; and to ask, levy, recover, and receive the same, and the debts in which the deceased stood obliged, so far as his goods, rights, and credits will extend, according to their rate and order of law, being first sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God, to make a true and perfect inventory thereof, and to exhibit the same into the Ordinary’s Office in York Courthouse in order to be recorded, on or before the ninth day of January now next ensuing; and to render a just and true account, calculation, and reckoning of the said administration when thereunto required. And I ordain, depute, and constitute you, the said JOSHUA E. DAVIS, administrator of all and singular the goods, rights, and credits of the said deceased. These are therefore to cite and admonish all and singular, the kindred and creditors of the said deceased, to be and appear before me, at our next Ordinary’s court for the said district, to be holden at York Court House, on the Monday after publication to show cause, if any, why administrations should not be granted. GIVEN under my hand and seal, this seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight and in the 63rd year of American Independence. DAVIS administrator of the goods and chattels, rights and credits of GEORGE DAVIS deceased, wheresoever any of the said goods and chattels are or do remain within the set parts and places, and which shall be shown on to you or the said JOSHUA E. DAVIS all and every the said goods and chattels, first being duly sworn on the holy evangelists of almighty God, to make a true and perfect inventory and appraisement thereof, and to cause the same to be returned under your hands, or any three or four of you, unto the said JOSHUA E. DAVIS on or before the 9th day of December next. THOMASSON, one of the justices assigned to keep the peace and for the district aforesaid, ROBERT STEARNS, MOSES LATHAM, and JOHN BAXTER being three of the appraisers appointed to appraise the goods and chattels of GEORGE DAVIS, deceased, late of the District of York, who being duly sworn made of that they would make a just and true appraisement of all and singular, the goods and chattels of the said GEORGE DAVIS deceased, as shall be produced by JOSHUA E. DAVIS of the estate of the deceased, and that they would return the same, certified under their hands unto the said JOSHUA E. DAVIS. DAVIS are holden and firmly bound on the BENJAMIN CHAMBERS Esquire, ordinary for the District of York in the full and just some of $1,000 lawful money of this state, to be paid to the said BENJAMIN CHAMBERS or his successors, ordinaries of this District, or there certain attorneys or a signs. To which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and every of us, our and every of our heirs, executors, and administrators, for the whole, and in the whole, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated the 9th day of October in the year of Our Lord, 1838. THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that if the above bound JOSHUA E. DAVIS administrator of the goods, chattels and credits of GEORGE DAVIS deceased, do make a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of the said JOSHUA E. DAVIS or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him and the same so made, do exhibit into the said Court of ordinary, when he shall thereunto be required, and such Goods, chattles, and credits, do well and truly administer according to law, and do make a just and true account of his acting and doings there in, when required by the said court, and all the rest of the said Goods, channels, and credits, which shall be found remaining upon the said account of the set Administration, the same being first allowed by the said court, and the executors obtain certificate of the probate thereof, and the said JOSHUA E.
