His grant reads as follows: WE HAVE GRANTED, and by these presents DO GRANT unto JAMES BRIANT Sen. his heirs and assigns, a plantation or tract of land containing forty five acres, surveyed for him the 4th of July, 1820, situate in York District on a branch of Fishing Creek waters of Catawba river, bounded by a line running NW by JAMES THOMPSONS land, NE by ROBERT NEELY's land and JOHN MCCARTER's, SW by said JAMES BRIANT Sen."
