Guardian, DE, Kent, JOHN BRYAN, 1767 Record group 3840.006 JOHN BRYAN, deceased minor JOHN BRYAN 1767-68 #3 Page 1 of 9 ** PAGE BREAK ** Guardian, DE, Kent, JOHN BRYAN, 1767 KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS that we JAMES MORTON and Andrew Butler of Kent County on Delaware are held and firmly bound unto JOHN BRYAN of the same place, a minor above the age of 14 years, in the just and full sum of £500 current lawful money of this government to be paid to the said JOHN BRYAN, his heirs, executors, administrators or ass signs to which payment well and truly to be made and do we find ourselves our errors, executors, administrators and every of them firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seal and dated this 21st day of December a no dumb and I 1767 the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden JAMES MORTON his heirs, executors, administrators shell and do well and truly pay and deliver or caused to be paid and delivered unto the above-named JOHN BRYAN, his heirs, executors, administrators or as signs all such sums or sums of money or other estate that shall come to his hands or possession as guardian of him, the said JOHN BRYAN, deducting they're out such reasonable sum as the orphans court for Kent County aforesaid shall allow for the said Guardians care and trouble in managing the estate of Sid JOHN BRYAN and that when the said JOHN BRYAN shall arrive at the age of 21 years or otherwise at such time as the said JAMES MORTON she'll be there until legally called then the above obligation is to be void or else to be and remain in full force and virtue. Justices present THOMAS twins?, CHARLES RIDGELY and THOMAS TILTON, Esquire. to this court comes JAMES MORTON, Guardian to JAMES BRYAN a minor above the age of 14 years, and Son of JOHN BRYAN, deceased, and praised the court would nominate an appoint 3 freeholders to go upon, View, and value the yearly rents and profits of the miners land which being considered is granted, and there upon the court to appoint JAMES CALDWELL, HAMILTON ??? and WILLIAM BETTS for the purposes aforesaid and that they make return of their proceedings to this or some succeeding orphans Court of this County. The petition of JOHN BRYAN humbly sheweth: THAT your petitioner is an orphan under the age of 21 years and above 14 years the son of a certain JOHN BRYAN, late of Kent, aforesaid, deceased, who left to your petitioner a tract of land situated in Murderkill, being the real estate of his mother, one of the daughters of a certain MARK BARDEN, deceased. THAT after the death of your petitioners father, there was chose for your petitioner as guardian a certain JOHN KILLEY, of said County, now deceased, and after the decease of said KILLEY was likewise chose as guardian, for your petitioner, a certain WILLIAM WALLACE, now also deceased. THAT your petitioners land and appurtenances known belonging are now liable to waste, trespass and embezzlement for want of a guardian. Therefore humbly praise your worships to nominate and appoint Mr. JAMES MORTON, or some reasonable honest man, guardian to your petitioner in order to prevent these supposed losses above mentioned.
