Deed, GA, Greene, Daniel Thacker to Benjamin Bryant, 1800 Georgia Greene County THIS INDENTURE made the 26th day of November in the year of Our Lord 1800 and of the sovereignty and independence of the United States of America the 25th. BETWEEN JONATHAN OPDYKE, as attorney in fact, MARY ARRISON, RICHARD OPDYKE, ANN EVERITT, JOB THACKER, REBECCA THACKER, GRAACE OPDYKE, GEORGE CAMPBELL and RACHEL CAMPBELL, heirs and legatees of the Reverend DANIEL THACKER, deceased, of the one part and BENJAMIN BRYANT of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said JONATHAN OPDYKE, as attorney aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of $2,500 to him in hand paid, the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, released, and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain, sell, release, and convey to the said BENJAMIN BRYANT, all that tract or parcel of land situate, lying, and being in the county and state aforesaid, on the Oconee River a adjoining PERKINS, FINDLY, MCCOMB. Granted to JOHN PATTERSON 21st of September 1784 and conveyed by deed of conveyance to JAMES FINLY, and by the said FINLY to the Reverend DANIEL THACKER and thereby JONATHAN OPDYKE, as attorney in fact for the heirs and representatives of the Reverend DANIEL THACKER, deceased, to the said BENJAMIN BRYANT, his heirs and assigns. Beginning at a Dogwood corner on the east side of the Oconee River; thence running N 38 E 75 chains and 89 links to a Sweet Gum; thence N 10 W 75 chains and 89 links to a Hickory; thence S 80 W 75 chains 89 links to a beach on the river; thence with said meanders of said River to the beginning Dogwood. CONTAINING 525 Acres, agreeable to a plat and grant in the name of the said JOHN PATTERSON, reference being thereunto had will more fully appear. THE APPURTENANCES thereunto belonging to the said BENJAMIN BRYANT, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said JONATHAN doth further covenant with the said BENJAMIN that he, the said JONATHAN OPDYKE in behalf of himself and the errors and representatives of the Reverend DANIEL THACKER, deceased, will hereby warrant and forever defend the aforesaid tract of land and premises from him, the said JONATHAN OPDYKE, and from all the heirs and representatives of the said DANIEL THACKER, deceased, and from all and every other person or persons whatsoever, to the only proper use, benefit, and behoof of him, the said BENJAMIN BRYANT, his heirs and assigns forever, in fee simple. JONATHAN OPDYKE {seal} test Park & Peyton Smith registered 26 November 1800 Page 1 of 4 ** PAGE BREAK ** Deed, GA, Greene, Daniel Thacker to Benjamin Bryant, 1800 KNOW YE ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS that we, MARY ARRISON, widow, RICHARD OPDYKE and GRAACE, his wife, ANN EVERITT, widow, JOBE THACKER, and REBECCA his wife, GEORGE CAMPBELL, and RACHEL, his wife, all of the county of Hunterdon and state of New Jersey, and legatees of the Reverend DANIEL THACKER, preacher of the Gospel deceased, as may appear by the last will and testament of the said Reverend DANIEL THACKER, deceased, made in writing and dated the 4th day of June in the year of our Lord 1796 and recorded in the prerogative office in the city of Trenton, for divers good causes and consideration as hereunto us moving, have made ordained, authorized, and appointed, and by these presents make, ordained, authorized and appoint our trusty friend, and relation, JONATHAN OPDYKE, late of the state of New Jersey but now residing in the state of Georgia. And he, the said JONATHAN OPDYKE, is one of the executives nominated and appointed by the Reverend, as may appear by the above recited last will and testament, our true and lawful attorney for us, and in our names, and to our use, to sell, alien, enfeoff, release, convey, and confirm unto any person, or persons, whatsoever who may purchase all, or any part or parcel, of the lands situate, lying and being in the state of Georgia, late of the Reverend DANIEL THACKER deceased, as is given and bequeathed to us by the above recited last will and testament of the above named DANIEL THACKER, deceased, and to have, use, and take all of lawful ways and means, in our names, for the selling, conveying, confirming, of all and singular the lands, hereditaments, and appurtenances, above mentioned, or any part or parcel thereof, to the purchaser, or purchasers, giving and granting to our said attorney full power lawful authority for us, or in our names, all deeds and acquittances to give, sign, sealed and deliver, and to do all other lawful acts and things whatsoever, for the better confirmation of the above said lands and premises, or any part or parcel thereof, as fully in every respect as we ourselves might or could do if we were personally present, ratifying and confirming all and whatsoever our said attorney shall in our names lawfully do or cause to be done in and about the premises.
