ARCHIBALD CAMPBELL, referred to on the next page, is still in the possession of my cousin, GEORGE W. CAMPBELL. From it I make the following connections and additions to the memorandum. There is recorded the birth of a 10th child, name and date of birth illegible, baptized by Mr. McKenzie, so my grandfather was next to the youngest not the youngest. Mr. B. Franklin of [illegible] tells me 8/29/34 that this child’s name (his grandfather) was ARGYLE. L. P. B. The date of ALEXANDER's death is not given, it was before September 1780, and the date 21st September belongs to the death of DONALD, killed by JOHN KING and his party. COLIN CAMPBELL, grandfather of GEORGE W. and M. C., married JANE HOGSTON, Rowan County North Carolina December the 3rd 1783. Their first four children were born dead. The first living child was born at the Island Ford, Catawba River, Iredell County, North Carolina, September 17th 1788 and baptized AGNES [CAMPBELL]. She died 1793. First son, ARCHIBALD ARGYLE [CAMPBELL] born 31 August 1792, father of G. W. [GEORGE W. CAMPBELL] and M. C. C. [MCCOY CLEMPSON CAMPBELL]. COLIN CAMPBELL died December 23rd 1834, his wife had died on 6th of June 1831. (3) Bladensburg CHRISTOPHER STODDERT, son of BENJAMIN STODDERT [and REBECCA LOWNDES], died on the 13th of September in the year 1821 at York York Haven in the state of Pennsylvania. HARRIET STODDERT was born 12th of April 1789 in Georgetown. WILLIAM STODDERT was born September 1796 married first July 1830 died 14th January 1839. REBECCA STODDERT was born July the 9th 1798. January 24th Saturday 1767 then early in the morning my 9th bairn and 4th daughter was born baptized ANNE [CAMPBELL] by Mr. John McKay. 8th of February 1769 then GEORGE [WASHINGTON CAMPBELL] was born baptized by Mr. William McKenzie. ALEXANDER [CAMPBELL], the oldest, Christian and Gentleman, died at date 21st September 1780. Then my DONALD [CAMPBELL] was shot dead, through the head, by a party under JOHN KING & c at the Waxhaws. Dr. ARCHIBALD CAMPBELL deceased 7 April 1782 at his own house on Crooked Creek, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. DUNCAN [CAMPBELL] died in Kentucky early in May 1811. [LIZINKA CAMPBELL] Died March, 1872, she married honorable DAVID HUBBARD MC from Alabama between 1844 and 1850. GEORGE WASHINGTON CAMPBELL, the first son of GEORGE W. and HARRIET CAMPBELL, was born on Wednesday morning at 3:00 the 1st day of September in the year 1813, in Georgetown district of Columbia, and died at St. Petersburg on the 12th of April 1819, aged 5 years 7 months and 12 days. CAMPBELL, who was born as above on the first of October in the year 1818 was the first christened at St. Petersburg, ARCHIBALD MONROE CAMPBELL and was again on our arrival in the United States christened at Washington City, after his brother of the same name GEORGE W. ELIZABETH MCKAY CAMPBELL, second daughter of GEORGE W. and HARRIET CAMPBELL was born at St. Petersburg, Russia, on the 24th day of February Thursday about half past 1:00 PM 1820. on the 12th of April 1822 at Nashville, was born the 6th child and fourth son of GEORGE W. and HARRIET CAMPBELL, called while he lived BENJAMIN STODDERT CAMPBELL for his deceased brother, and died on the 28th of September of the same year 1822. On the 25th of April 1839 at Nashville, ELIZABETH CAMPBELL, alias LIZINKA, daughter of GEORGE W. and HARRIET CAMPBELL was united in wedlock to JAMES PERCY BROWN, Esquire, son of the late Dr. SAMUEL BROWN. JAMES PERCY BROWN departed this life at Nashville on the 2nd day of April 1844, in his 33rd year. (5) GEORGE W. CAMPBELL departed this life at 2:00 in the afternoon of the 17th day of February in the year of Our Lord 1848 at Nashville Tennessee. He was born in the parish of Tongue and Shire of Sutherland, Scotland, on the 8th of February 1769. HARRIET CAMPBELL, widow of GEORGE W. CAMPBELL died of Cholera at Guyandotte, [West] Virginia at 1:00 in the morning of the 17th of July in the year 1849. GEORGE W. CAMPBELL, only surviving son of GEORGE W. and HARRIET CAMPBELL, died at Rochefort, France, on the 8th of August 1853. GEORGE CAMPBELL BROWN, son of JAMES PERCY and the LIZINKA CAMPBELL BROWN was born in Nashville on the 27th of November 1840. PERCY BROWN Second Son of JAMES PERCY and LIZINKA C. On the 23rd of May, 1863, Lieutenant General RICHARD S. EWELL, C. S. A., was married to LIZINKA C. BROWN, daughter of GEORGE W. and HARRIET CAMPBELL in Richmond Virginia. On the 10th of October 1865, HARRIET STODDERT BROWN was married to THOMAS T. TURNER of St. Louis, in Baltimore Maryland. On the 11th of September 1866 GEORGE CAMPBELL BROWN was married to SUSAN REBECCA POLK, at the residence of her father, General LUCIUS J. POLK in Maury County Tennessee. LIZINKA CAMPBELL TURNER, 1st daughter of THOMAS T. and HARRIET S. TURNER was born at St. Louis, Missouri, on the 15th of November 1866. LUCIUS POLK BROWN, 1st child of CAMPBELL and SUSAN R. BROWN was born at LUCIUS POLK's place in Maury County, Tennessee, on the 1st of August, 1867. (6) JULIA MOFFITT TURNER second daughter of THOMAS T. and HARRIET S. TURNER was born at her father's place, Marietta Street, St. Louis County, Missouri on the 28th of June 1868. RICHARD EWELL BROWN second son of CAMPBELL and SUSAN R. BROWN was born in Nashville, 12th of January 1870. NANCY [ANNE] LUCAS TURNER, third daughter of THOMAS T. and HARRIET S. TURNER, was born at Spring Hill Farm, residence of General EWELL, on the 23rd of January, 1870. GEORGE CAMPBELL BROWN, third son of CAMPBELL and SUSAN P. BROWN, was born at Spring Hill Farm, September 25th 1871. HARRIET STODDERT TURNER, fourth daughter of THOMAS T. and HARRIET S. TURNER was born at Spring Hill Farm, November 16th 1871. here ended the entries in the old record LIZINKA CAMPBELL EWELL, daughter of GEORGE W. and HARRIET S. CAMPBELL, and wife of General RICHARD S. EWELL, departed this life at 12 midnight on January 22nd Monday 1872. General RICHARD S. EWELL, son of DR. THOMAS and ELIZABETH S. EWELL, survived his wife but two days, dying at 1 AM Of the 25th of January 1872. They are buried in one grave in the Nashville Cemetery. I copy from my father's tomb this inscription JAMES PERCY BROWN, born at Woodville Mississippi, April 9th, 1812, died at Nashville, April 2nd, 1844, age 32 years, 11 months, 22 days. Mrs. REBECCA STODDERT HUBBARD, daughter of BENJAMIN and REBECCA STODDERT, died on the 26th of March 1872 at 6:30 AM, aged 74 years, 8 months and 17 days. She left no children. Her husband, the Honorable DAVID HUBBARD, of Alabama, survives her. (7) PERCY [BROWN], fourth son and child, and LIZINKA CAMPBELL [BROWN], first daughter, of CAMPBELL and SUSAN P. BROWN were born at Spring Hill on the morning of the 6th of April, Easter Monday, 1874. He is the elder of the twins. HENRY SMITH [TURNER] first son and 6th child of THOMAS T. and HARRIET S. TURNER was born on Christmas morning 1874 at Normandy, St. Louis County, Missouri. THEODORA PERCY TURNER was born at Marietta, the TURNER house, near Normandy, Missouri, on September 15th 1876. EDITH REBECCA TURNER was born at the same place on January 19th, 1878. ARTHUR CAMPBELL, second son and 9th child of THOMAS T. and HARRIET S. TURNER, was born at the same place on October 22nd 1880. April 4th, 1888, JULIA H. TURNER was married to [JAMES] KINGSBURY WATERMAN of St. Louis Missouri. He was divorced by her. January 13th 1889 ADELE KINGSBURY, daughter of KINGSBURY and JULIA H. WATERMAN was born in St. Louis Missouri [NOTE: 3 3hildren] CAMPBELL BROWN son of JAMES PERCY and LIZINKA CAMPBELL BROWN departed this life at Grand Rapids Michigan on the morning of August 30th, 1893. He is buried in the cemetery of St. John's Church, Ashwood, Tennessee. (8) The spring Of 1872, I found the bindings of this Bible so worn and the record kept in it so ragged and defaced by frequent use that I had the book rebound and these new leaves inserted on which I now copy from the original Pages all the record that remained. July 10th, 1872, GEORGE CAMPBELL BROWN BENJAMIN STODDERT and REBECCA LOWNDES were married the seventh day of June in the year of our Lord 1781. He died in 1834 is written in pencil after the above entry. ELIZABETH STODDERT, daughter of BENJAMIN and REBECCA STODDERT, was born the 2nd of September in the year 1784. THOMAS STODDERT, son of BENJAMIN and REBECCA STODDERT, was born the 5th of January 1787 and died the 15th of April 1788. RICHARD STODDERT, son of BENJAMIN and REBECCA STODDERT, was born the 9th day of May 1793 and died the 10th day of October, 1810. CHRISTOPHER STODDERT, son of BENJAMIN and REBECCA STODDERT, was born the 17th of November, 1799 in Philadelphia and died the 13th of September 1821 at York Haven, in Pennsylvania. REBECCA STODDERT, wife of BENJAMIN STODDERT, departed this life the 10th of February 1802. ELIZABETH STODDERT was married to DR. THOMAS EWELL the 3rd of March, 1807. REBECCA EWELL daughter of DR. THOMAS EWELL and ELIZABETH, his wife, was born the 3rd of December 1808. BENJAMIN STODDERT, late Secretary of the Navy of the United States, departed this life on the 18th day of December in the year 1813 (9) SUSAN POLK BROWN, widow of CAMPBELL BROWN, died suddenly at Pass Christian, Mississippi, on the morning of Sunday February 19th 1922. She is buried beside her husband in St. John's Church at Ashwood, Maury County, Tennessee. she was in the 75th year of her age. SUSAN MASSIE POLK BROWN, eldest daughter and first child of SUSAN MASSIE and LUCIUS POLK BROWN, was married on August 17th 1929 to CHISNEY HUGHES LYON, son of the late A. AUGUSTINE LYON, of Nashville, at the Grace Church, Spring Hill, Tennessee. On Easter Day, April 20th, 1930, a son was born to CHISNEY HUGHES and SUSAN BROWN LYON, at Spring Hill, Tennessee. He is named JAMES ADIAR LYON HARRIET STODDERT TURNER, daughter of JAMES PERCY and the LIZINKA CAMPBELL BROWN, died at her residence in the city of Washington on October 14th, 1932, in her 89th year. Her children LIZINKA CAMPBELL TURNER, unmarried, and HARRY S. TURNER had proceeded her. The latter left no children. LIZINKA died at her Quinta near Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. CAMPBELL HUXLEY BROWN, son of LUCIUS POLK and JESSIE ROBERTS BROWN, was born at Nashville on the morning of October 25th, 1896. JESSIE ROBERTS BROWN departed this life at 8:30 on the morning of July 2nd, 1897, at Nashville, in the 27th year of her age. LIZINKA CAMPBELL BROWN departed this life at 8:00 in the evening of August 28th, 1899, at Hamilton Place, Ashwood, Maury County, Tennessee. In the 26th year of her age. She is buried near her father in St. John's churchyard. On the 10th day of September, 1901, RICHARD EWELL BROWN was married to MARION LEE, daughter of JOHN BOWERS LEE, Esquire of New York City, at Sound Beach, Connecticut. On December 12th 1903, LUCIUS POLK BROWN was united in marriage to SUSAN CATHERINE MASSIE, daughter of PATRICK C. MASSIE at Three Springs, the family Homestead near MASSIE's Mill in Nelson County Virginia. SUSAN MASSIE POLK BROWN first daughter of LUCIUS P. and SUSAN MASSIE BROWN was born at Nashville, Tennessee, February 11th, 1906. (11) GERTRUDE PLUNKETT, first daughter and third child of PERCY and GERTRUDE P. BROWN was born at EWELL Farm, November 4th, 1913. RICHARD EWELL, first son and second child of RICHARD EWELL and MARION LEE BROWN was born in New York City, February the 10th, 1908. MARION LEE, second daughter and third child of RICHARD E. and MARION L. BROWN was born in New York City on March 19th, 1911. LEE POLK, Second Son and 4th child of RICHARD EWELL and MARION LEE BROWN was born in New York City on January 17th, 1915. CAMPBELL H. BROWN, son of LUCIUS P. and JESSIE R. BROWN, was married to MARY ELIZABETH, daughter of SAMUEL R. SANFORD of Florida and Tennessee, on August 13th, 1921 in New York City. MARION LEE only surviving daughter of RICHARD EWELL and MARION LEE BROWN, died on August 29th, 1921 at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. RICHARD EWELL BROWN, second son of CAMPBELL and SUSAN POLK BROWN, died at his home on West 58th Street in New York City on June 14th, 1919. His death is now first entered here. He is buried in the family plot of his wife's people, at Southampton, Long Island New York. LIZINKA CAMPBELL [MOSLEY], first daughter of JOEL ILIA MOSLEY Jr. and LIZINKA CAMPBELL BROWN was born at Calvert County Hospital Sheffield Alabama on the 8th of March, 1940. (13) ADA CATHERINE [MOSLEY], second daughter of JOEL and LIZINKA CAMPBELL BROWN MOSLEY was born at Florence, Alabama, 21st of March 1942. JOEL ILIA MOSLEY III, third child and first son of JOEL I. Jr. and LIZINKA CAMPBELL BROWN MOSLEY was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on 25th of March, 1945. On 19th of September, 1964, the LIZINKA CAMPBELL BENTON was born in Houston Texas to FRED FOX BENTON and LIZINKA CAMPBELL MOSLEY. On 30th November, 1966, FRED FOX BENTON III was born in Houston Texas to the above named parents. On 4th February ? 1968, ADA CATHERINE MOSLEY was married to in St. George’s Church Nashville to ROBERT JOHN CHARNLEY Jr. of Atlanta. (14) SUSAN CATHERINE MASSIE, second wife of LUCIUS POLK BROWN, departed this life at the house of her daughter Mrs. CHASTITY HUGHES LYON in Murfreesboro, Tennessee the afternoon of Thursday 30th of November 1950. RICHARD EWELL and MARION LEE BROWN was born in New York at 111 West 55th Street and died at 9 months she is buried at the Southampton, Long Island New York. JAMES PLUNKETT first child of PERCY and GERTRUDE BROWN was born in? At Nashville Tennessee November 1st 1910. LIZINKA CAMPBELL, second daughter of LUCIUS P. and SUSAN MASSIE BROWN was born near Franklin Tennessee on September 2nd, 1908. LUCIA CABELL BROWN, third daughter and third child of LUCIUS P. and SUSAN MASSIE BROWN was born near Franklin, Tennessee, on October 28th 1910. GEORGE CAMPBELL, third son of CAMPBELL and SUSAN POLK BROWN, died at Nashville, Tennessee, on January 23rd, 1912, in the 41st year of his age. He is buried at St. John's churchyard. PERCY, second son and child of PERCY and GERTRUDE P. BROWN was born at EWELL Farm on April 12th 1912. JAMES PLUNKETT, first son and child of PERCY and GERTRUDE P. BROWN, departed this life on January 23rd at 12:30 PM 1913, at the EWELL farm, is buried at St. John's Church and (16) on January 20th, 1933, there was born to SUSAN BROWN LYON at her home in Lebanon Tennessee a daughter named SUSAN Catherine LYON. PERCY BROWN, fourth son of CAMPBELL and SUSAN POLK BROWN, died on March 26th, 1934, at his home Hillcrest near Charlottesville, Virginia, is buried in St. John's churchyard, at Ashwood Tennessee. HUGHES and SUSAN BROWN LYON was married on August 22nd, 1950 at Davidson County Courthouse, Nashville, to JAMES AUSTIN BRYAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. G. BRYAN of Battle Creek Michigan. Divorced March 14th 1953.
