Deed, NC, Mecklenburg [Anson], SAMUEL DAVISON to ALEXANDER LOVE, 1765 THIS INDENTURE made the 9th day of December in the year of our Lord Christ 1765. BETWEEN SAMUEL DAVISON and MARGARET DAVISON his wife the county of Mecklenburg in the province of North Carolina of the one part and ALEXANDER LOVE of the said County and province of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said SAMUEL DAVISON and MARGARET for and in consideration of the sum of 5 Shillings Sterling money to them in hand paid by the said ALEXANDER LOVE at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof was hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain, and sell unto the said ALEXANDER LOVE all that track, piece, or parcel of land. CONTAINING 640 acres being then surveyed in the county of Anson but now the county of Mecklenburg in the province of North Carolina on MOSES DICKEY’s Creek on the south side of the Catawba River taking in the fork of said Creek. Beginning at a white oak and running N 70 W 220 poles to his stake; thence S 320 poles to a stake; thence S 78 E 320 poles to a Red Oak on the branch; thence with the said branch in its several courses to the beginning. BEING A TRACT of land granted on to GEORGE DAVISON by patent bearing date March of 1754 MATTHEW ROWAN Esquire, president for the time being for the time of record with all buildings, improvements, profits and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract of land and all the premises hereby granted with all their appurtenances unto the said ALEXANDER LOVE his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns from the day before the date hereof for and during the term of one whole year from thence next ensuing fully to be completed and ended yielding and buying there for the rent of one peppercorn on the first of Saint Michael only if the same shall then be lawfully demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the statute for transferring uses into possessions the said ALEXANDER LOVE may be in actual possession of the premises and be thereby enabled to receive and take a grant of and release of the reversion and inheritance thereof to him, his heirs and assigns forever.
